I just discovered (from my doctor) that you do not have to be a member of Sam's Club to utilize their pharmacy. They have many generic drugs that are cheaper than if you go through your insurance. I just filled a prescrition that would have cost me $30 for a 90 days supply and will only cost me $20 at Sam's.
Does your insurance company have a website that will do a price check for a prescription?
