U won't believe what just happened!!!

I am soooooooooo disappointed!!!! I was sooooo going to Spend Less and Save More this year. I started back on mommysavers and made a plan. I got alot of advice from you all also. I was hoping to make it on $200 a week for food and gasoline. I am half way thru the week and doing fine....dh has been supportive and excited also. Today I was so happy and empowered and BLESSED because I felt like we could really do this and be able to save some money this month. Well...low and behold! My dryer died today. I guess it is the heating element. I could cry. I haven't told my husband yet. Is this something a little repair will take care of or are we going to have to buy a new one??frown.gif

I just hung up all my clothes in our garage. I have a load of towels that I have to find another rope and hang them all up on. So discouraged!!

Heating elements are usually under $50.  And your husband can probably replace it.  Google your specific dryer.  You will get detailed directions on how!  :)  And this is a set back..not a fall off the train!!  AND....hanging your clothes, while isn't great (I know..I did it for a few months last year), is doable!!!  You can do this!!!

My husband replaced mine several times before we finally just got a new dryer! LOL  Its a very easy fix and very cheap.

I agree with blessed & missy, it is a cheap and easy fix!  Dh was gone (he was out of town for a month--and had left just 3 days before!) when ours went out, so I googled it, found directions for how to fix it, got the part on ebay for under $20, and fixed it--MYSELF!  I was so proud of myself!  All it took was a screw driver.  The hardest part was moving the dryer and hooking the vent hose back up when I was done!

I would also try not to be discouraged from your goal.  Do what you had planned to do and continue it.  It's the long-term goal you are looking towards.  There will always be unexpected things like this cropping up.

Heating elements can be replaced, my DH did that just last winter when mine when out along with a couple of other things and it was so much cheaper than getting a different dryer. You can still continue with the goals you have set in place.

Unless your dryer is ancient you can probably fix it like a lot of the other people have suggested.
