Who was with you in the delivery room? - Page 2

Just DH & the doctor and nurses.  I wouldn't want anyone else there.

Just DH and the staff.  There were other family members there but I wouldn't have dreamed of letting them in.    I was very close to my OB-GYN (she'd seen me through years of infertility, a blighted ovum, etc and was very good to me) and her previous office nurse that I had loved was the delivery nurse for my 2nd child.   Her shift ended before I delivered, but she stayed with me anyway.    I felt very cared for and nurtured throughout by all of them.

My mom was there with my 1st but had a really hard time with boundaries both during the labor itself and then afterward, so for our 2nd it was just me and DH.  We also allowed student nurses the first time (MISTAKE) and we kept them out too for Evie's birth.  It made for a much calmer birthing process.

When this baby comes, it will just be the two of us again, and this time, we're banning student nurses not just for the birth but for the duration of our stay.  Last time, they barged in repeatedly without knocking and even went so far as to come into the bathroom while I was showering to ask me questions!  (There was no shower curtain... and the questions were far from time sensitive).  I was worried that it would be a problem of policy, but when I asked at the hospital, they said I could keep them out if I was uncomfortable.

Dh and my Mom

Only dh.  I'm not sure if I would have wanted my mom with me had she lived to see ds, or not.  We were very close but she wasn't that kind of person.

Just my dh and medical staff for all seven.  I was there for my oldest grandchilds birth, but would have rather not been, but my dd had no one else.  I wasn't in the room for my other grandchildrens births.

With DD#1 when I went into the hospital after my water broke and was in labor DH's parents were in the room at the beginning, I remember thinking that I really didn't want them to stay in the room when I delivered, I was relieved when they went home after a couple hours.  My parents got there later.  I ended up having to have a c-section, so DH was the only one in that room with me.  My mom and sister were in the waiting room.

For DD#2 it was a planned c-section, it was just DH and I again in the surgery room, DD#1 had been brought to daycare in the morning and my mom picked her up after she got off work and brought her up to the hospital.

DH and my mom.

I had a crowd. My dh, my mom and my sister. For some reason my sister really really wanted to be there. My MIL also really REALLY wanted to be there but I am super close to my mom and my sister but not my MIL so that would have been awkward. Though I felt bad for my dad who had to listen to her talk about wanting to be in there with me the entire time they were in the waiting area.
