Do you like musicals?

I do and DD shares my love for them too. DH likes them well enough and DS really can't be bothered yet ( but he does know a lot of songs from certain soundtracks redface.gif)

DD and I are watching RENT (movie version) again (she is off from school and not feeling so great so I gave her some cold medicine and let her pick the movie). For a long time I only let her watch the first half of the movie and NEVER the stage version (I have the final NY performance on DVD), and this year we got her the DVD for Christmas and we have watched it SO many times, she not only knows all the songs but most of the words too smile.gif

If you like them, what's your favorite?

I was never a huge fan of musicals, but since my daughter is a huge fan of them I'm learning enjoy them WITH her.  We are LOVING the music from WIcked right now.

I like musicals, but DH doesn't like them at all!  I wish I could afford to go to more musicals. I want to see Wicked so bad!!  I love the movie Rent!

I'm a huge, huge, huge fan of musicals. I remember learning to play all the songs from The Sound of Music on the piano when I was young. Both of my kids really like them too. If you met my DS you wouldn't think he would be, but he IS!!! I bet he watched Dreamgirls a zillion times and knew all the songs...the goof smile.gif They have pretty much grown up exposed to lots of musicals and have always loved them.

I'm not sure I have just one favorite. I love everything from the old Rodger and Hammerstein musicals, to older ones like Annie, to more current things including Rent, etc.

Not a huge fan, but I do love The Sound of Music.

Yes, I like musicals -some more than others.

I loved "A Chorus Line" (seemed SO dramatic back in the day, compared to now), "Cats", "Rent".  DH hated Rent.

I thought Phantom of the Opera was over-rated, but maybe because I waited SO LONG to see it & had really high expectations by then. Enjoyed Le Miz, but didn't think it was the best I've ever seen - same with Wicked.

Oddly enough, "Hello Dolly" and "White Christmas" were really good, and we only saw those because we were given free tix.

I know I've seen many others over the years. Gilbert and Sullivan are always fund.

We LOVE Rent.  Have let the older kids watch it as they know most the music already.  We also love Hairspray - that's on at least once a month in our house.  Just saw Joyful Noise at the movies and can't wait for that to come out on DVD.  Kids also love Singing in the Rain - got to take them to an old theater to watch it on the big screen a couple years ago.

As for stage shows - it's been so long since I've seen anything.  We have seen Rent several times.  JC Superstar is a favorite of mine too (kids have watched that one on DVD too).  I love Evita - I used to do community theater and got to dance in that one - a fun show (did Superstar too).

Most of the ones I have seen I liked but I have not seen very many.

I love musicals.  I would rather watch a play that is a musical than any other type of play.  Dh isn't as big on them, but he would sit through a play with me before he sat through a movie that was a musical.

I enjoy them more on stage than on film.
