DD and I wanted a snack last night- she wanted fruit and I wanted cobbler, so we settled on a "Dump Cake" It was DELICIOUS!!!

Dump Cake

  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)**

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In the prepared dish, layer the cherry pie filling then the pineapple. Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the top, covering evenly. Pour the melted butter over the cake mix.

Bake 50 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven, until browned and bubbly.

**I sprinkled the walnuts over the cake 10 minutes before it was done.

I have made this before and it is so easy and good.

I have used the apple pie filling and the peach. I did leave out the pineapple, just because E doesn't like cooked pineapple.

I make this too except I usually do peach. I have made it with cherries though but I do it without the coconut or pineapple, but always include the walnuts. Easy and yummy!

Now I REALLY want to try the peach version!

This is good with 2 cans of apple pie filling and use spice cake mix. Makes your house smell wonderful while it is cooking.

I always make it in the crock pot. So simple, and so good.

I've done this w/ canned peaches. Not a big canned pie filling fan. With the peach version, it's really good warm w/ ice cream.
