How do you save money on indoor activities for the (older) kids

Cabin fever has set in!  How do you save on things like:

Bowling

Laser Tag

Indoor skating/swimming

Movies

What other fun indoor activities do you older kids enjoy during the winter that are inside?  I'm looking for some frugal ideas!  What other activities are available to the kids in your area?

We did Kids bowl free last summer. She got shoe rental and two free games daily. We also did regal's summer movie series. Unfortunately that doesn't help with the winter time.

We have just started doing the Girl scout parents night out. For $10 she gets to do crafts, watch movies and play games. Many community center's have these for school age kids.

Still young enough for bounce houses and jungle gyms

Mini Golf.

Children's museum

library programs.

Play dates

We get invited to a lot of birthdays

Most of our museum's have a free night

Nature center (who cares that its winter)

We have a children's membership at the YMCA yes mine let you get a solo membership for just the child so swimming is includes, We do gymnastics every Tuesday night really want to keep her in after school sports or activities.

I am always on the go with the kids I say get your kids involved with groups. Often you get a group rate. I haven't paid for the zoo in a while. We tag along with a friend who has a membership.

Subscribe to local blogs. They have a ton of ideas. I have pages on my Facebook for thing we like to do. Friend your local bowling ally and you will know when they are running specials

When they were inbetween at that age, I would just scour the internet for discount coupons.  I know AAA offers discounts on movie tickets.  The other thing is to just go on an off hour when they have specials.  I have been told that movie tickets for students around here are now $10.75!  It's simply outrageous.  They can wait for the DVD to come out, buy that and watch it a million times!

I swear we save money by buying a season pass for our local ski resort.  We go 2-3 times a week.  It is $300 per person for the season.  We could easily spend that at the mall or movies.

Have any of you found deals on sites like Groupon and Living Social?  What about the Entertainment Books?

I have also heard of passes/entertainment packages being advertised on radio auctions.

We don't do alot of pay activites in general we watch for free things. We don't stay in we bundle up and head out and hike ect. Yesterday it was nice enough for basketball.

Now there are several movies that my kids have wanted to see and are now at the cheap theatres near us we have access to 4 fairly close ranging from $2 bucks to $5 bucks a person. So tomorrow we will see Alvin and the chipmunks chip wrecked at the cheap theatre!

We do bowling a lot. I buy from Groupon and I signed up for the bowling alleys around me to be on their mailing list.

My most recent coupon is up to 10 games free President's weekend. Shoe rental not included.      For my family of four, I only pay for two shoe rentals.

Bowling

They can swim for free at the Y.

Library has offered coupons to Play Station again for a reading program.

Go to the Y and just shoot hoops.

Our YMCA also allows us to bring guests in for free (each guest may visit twice per year).  Or, if you don't have a membership you can purchase a day pass.

I bought from Groupon once, Nutcracker tickets. Which were the worst seats in the house. So I was a bit upset it didn't say that they were assigned seating and we went with friends and didn't get to sit with them

Done the entertainment book. Bought it through my points and it game with a $25 Restraunt.com card as well as earning enough points for a $10 gift card. I just have a problem that I live out in the country and so much of the book is for the city. Yes it saves but only if you use it.

One cool way to save with a entertainment book is to buy one for a city you are traveling too. The new books come out in the Fall by June or July they are down to $5 a book since all the coupons expire in Nov

Considering outdoor fun. National parks pass is $10 for a week pass $20 for an annual We really should get one Drive up, Have a snow day.  Same pass will work for hiking in the summer.

Doing an unusual one today. This works with the younger set of kids. We are visiting a pet store with friends.
