When you use a change machine?

You know, the type that converts dollars to quarters, do you count the quarters you get to ensure you got the right amount of money back?

My washing machine broke and while I am waiting for a part, I have been visiting the local laundry mat. I have found, outside of your basic $1.00, which is four quarters, I never count to see if my change is correct.

I always count.  I don't trust anyone or anything.

I haven't used a change machine in years, I never counted it though.

Why pay the fee to someone else?  If you have kids it is a great way for them to learn how to count money.  Kids find the oddest things fun and a big deal.  I count and roll my own.

I am confused, i have never seen a change machine that charged you? Most places, in my area, offer them so you are able to use their services.

I think you two are talking about different things. You're talking about converting a dollar TO change to use in a laundromat. She's talking about the machines that you deposit change in and they convert it to money for you, and those usually DO charge a fee.

I always count my change from those types of machines. I've always wonder how often they are serviced so better to be safe than sorry! I also count the money I get from the ATM as well. It doesn't hurt to be too careful!
