Refilling To Go food pouches

I have a one and a half year old and she loves the applesauce on the go pouches.  She also likes yogurt, but it's hard for her to eat it, even the Go Gurt is hard for her.  She likes to be independent and eat on her own.

I decided to clean out the applesauce on the go pouches and refill them with Yogurt.  Here is what I did.

First clean the To Go pouch thoroughly, and let it dry.

Then scoop the yogurt into the syringe.

I got this syringe with my Babycakes Cake Pop maker.

Something like this would work too if you don't already have something, you can order it from Amazon.com, you just want to make sure you get something with a big enough opening.

Then I squirted the yogurt into the pouch.  You want to go with a nice smooth yogurt, if you get one with fruit in it, it will get stuck in the syringe.  This would also work with baby food, pudding, etc.

She loves it!

I've never used these squeezy pouches. How do you wash them out to refill them?

That was my question.  How do you get it (and know that it) is clean?

I was literally just saying today, in the check-out line at the grocery store, how I wish I knew a way to successfully refill those things.  They aren't terribly expensive, but at two or three at a time for a snack, they can get a little expensive.

What a great idea - I'll be trying this with the newest batch I just bought!!!

Ok, here is how I wash them, they are actually really easy to wash...

I blow on the nozzle to puff it up, then I run hot water into the nozzle, hold my finger over the nozzle and shake it and squeeze it to get to all the edges.  I do that a few times to get all the apple sauce out.  Then I blow it up again, and smell it, if it doesn't smell like apple sauce I am done.  If it still has an apple sauce smell I keep washing it.  Then I blow it up again and rinse it one more time since I put my mouth on it and then lay it in the dish pan until it is dry.  If you are concerned about them getting washed enough you could use soap, but I don't want it to have a soapy taste so I don't use soap.
