easy DIY foamy soap.jpg

Making your own foaming soap is a super easy way to save on your household expenses.  I can't believe how easy it was when I finally tried it.  Here are three great reason to make your own foaming soap:

  • It is SO much easier for kids to wash themselves with foaming soap.
  • It will save you a LOT of money.
  • Kids' hands get cleaner with foaming soap.

My own opinions of course, but if you look at the picture you can see how little of the body wash it took to make a full bottle of foaming soap.  It's definitely a lot cheaper.

Here's how to DIY Foaming Soap

  1. Rinse and reuse a foaming soap bottle, such as Bath & Body Works.
  2. Add about an inch of hand soap, dish soap, body wash, etc to the bottle.  Don't use anything with beads or lotion.
  3. Fill the bottle up the rest of the way with water and replace the lid.
  4. Save up to 90% on the cost of soap!

I love the foaming stuff soooo much more than regular.  I've been doing this for a few years now.  I usually use 1/3 regular liquid handsoap (Dial, softsoap, etc) to 2/3 water.  I might have to try it with a little less and see how it goes.

I wish they would make an automatic one that foams - I got a regular one on clearance but I miss my foam.

I love this! I do it for all 3 bathrooms and a pump in my kitchen. I bought a big jug of soft soap over a year ago and it is still 1/4 full! You really don't need a lot of soap in the dispensers, just a layer on the bottom smile.gif

I have been doing this for a while, but was having an issue with the pump wearing out.  I think I wasn't mixing the soap and water enough before putting it in the dispenser and the thick Softsoap I use was wearing it out (I re-use Method foaming hand soap 10oz containers).  The last couple of times I filled them up, I put some Softsoap in a mason jar, added very hot water and shook it up very well.  This seems to water down the soap enough that the foaming pump handles it better.

I use cheap dish detergent or bubble bath from the dollar stores, and use about 1/3 "soap" to 2/3 water, then shake it up.  I use one in my kitchen and both baths.  I've been doing this for years, and it saves a lot!

this is awesome!  I usually just buy bar soap because it's cheaper than liquid, but this is even better!  Thanks for sharing.  :)

Just did this tonight with a little bit of dish soap I had left in the large bottle.  It's going to be great because I tend to put too much soap on when washing dishes, so this will help so much!  Thanks again!!!

Has anyone had trouble with the pump bottle wearing out? We're almost done with our second refill (I'm using a Bath and Body Works foaming soap bottle) and it's getting harder to push down.  I don't know if our bottle is wearing out, or maybe it just needs a good cleaning.

I've make DIY foaming hand soap before and yes, sometimes it seems like the bottle gets clogged.  I'm not sure what the solution is.
