It's probably the lens.  I used a Canon 50mm for that.

I have NO idea, but they are on bushes ALL over my neighborhood.  I think they are cool looking!  I'll be watching to see what they bloom into, though.  :)

Like many of you, I thought of Spring when I thought about our Growth challenge.

This is the same bush in my front yard from the winter challenge.

We're in Chicago and the weather this week is like the weather we get in May... such a treat!

Thanks!  I had high hopes of finding a picture of my little guy (then 4 years old) from October 2010 with our dog (then a puppy) in his lap - and then recreating the scenario - and then comparing the growth of our dog (now almost two years old) and my son (now 5 1/2).  It didn't happen.  Maybe it will soon - this week has been crazy (who am I kidding, it's like this EVERY week)!  :)  Onto the next challenge!  This is so fun, by the way.  Can we add more weeks to the challenge?  Or will we (can we) start another one???

Okay how about over grown!! This is an area of my background I jokingly call my secret garden. It is an area that got badly over grown because it is full of poison ivy. Dh is very allergic to it, so he refuses to go back there and do anything. Grape vines have taken it over. I go back there every spring and hack away for a couple of days. I make no progress at all, or so it seems. It is actually a very tranquil place.
