Has anyone ever used Tamiflu?  Does it work?

I have always wondered about this too.  I do believe you have to catch it early enough for it to do any good. By the time we realize it's the flu, it's usually too late for it. Plus, we never usually go to the doctor once we realize it is a virus.

I think for it to be effective you have to take it within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms.

The girls and I took it years ago when we all had influenza A. Paid over $80 for it and it made us all throw up. (Take with food if you have to take it). So not only were we fighting for kleenex we were also fighting for the toilet.

Next time I will just pass on the Tamiflu, but I know others who think it helped them.

Last year my oldest got diagnosed with the flu and they put him on it immediately.  The doctor also wanted each one of us to take the Tamiflu for 5 days since we were not showing symptoms of it yet.  Man was that expensive!!! For the 5 of us it cost over $400 and that was with insurance!! We four never got the flu but my husband swore he would not have gotten it anyway!!

I thought it was WONDERFUL stuff.  The year we all got the flu, those that got the tamiflu soon enough got over it SO much faster.

It made me sick for three days but the flu was gone fast.

Last year I took it b/c we caught it early enough, but I was still sick for about 3 days...not as bad or as long as I would have been down with the flu though, so it was worth it for me!
