I have found this to be the absolute best at controlling odors - and because the cage is in by DD's bedroom, this is very important.

Cookie, Thanks for mentioning the Feline Pine. I like the website and some reviews. Can you smell the clean litter? Is it horrid?   I am going to buy a small bag and see if I like it. I like the no dust factor.

The fresh litter smells slightly "pine-y" - like pine wood shavings - but it isn't over-whelming. I very sensitive to smells so if it was bad, I'd tell you.

I've been using the World's Best Litter for the two kitties we just adopted from the Humane Society.  It is a corn-based clumping litter, and I've really liked it so far.  It doesn't have the dust that the clay litter I used with my other cats did (Tidy Cat scoopable).  There is some odor, but if it is scooped out daily, it isn't bad.  It clumps really well, and is easy to clean out.  Target carries it, and it is on sale until the end of March (at least it is here in WI).

I LOVE Priority brand clumping it is Safeway, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Vons....  brand but I know they are part of a chain. My neighbor even asked me as she says she can't smell our cats and we have 2.

Go to a feed store (blue seal, agway, tractor supply) and get a bag of pellets. It's a pelletized form of wood shavings (similar to pellet stove fuel) that is used as bedding in stalls for horses, etc. It'll run you about $5 for a 50lb bag. When it gets wet (hello cat pee), the pellets absorb it all and expand, scoop out that, leave the rest. Easy peasy. Naturally deodorizing, all natural, no weird litter smell, and cheap cheap cheap.

$5 for 50lb. That is a great deal.     I'll look into that. The only problem is I live in the city and a feed store is going to be hard to find.

Arm & hammer is the worst. I use scoop away super clump. I found that the 'multi-cat' formula doesn't clump as hard and breaks up when it's scooped out. I have 3 cats, 2 liter boxes and my house does not 'stink'.

Where do you buy it?  I've never heard of that brand.

We have used Arm & Hammer for years but to be honest I don't remember which of them it is (I think they have several different choices from Arm & Hammer). We've not had any problems with it and prefer it over others. We scoop it but then also dump the whole thing periodically. I think ours only smells if we don't remember to scoop or empty it. It's weird that she's scooping it onto the floor etc. Maybe the smell is because she's not really urinating IN the litter?
