Line-dry Laundry Without a Clothesline

Here's a money-saving tip I've been using for years - line-dry your clothes without a clothesline by hanging them on hangers.  We have a lot of closet space, so I often just hang clothing up on hangers and put it in the closet to dry.  If I have a lot to hang up to dry, I use the door frames.  Use out-of-the-way doorways if you can, so you don't accidentally knock stuff off!

This is also a great way to line-dry clothes year-round.

I do this too.  Sometimes I take it a step further and during the spring and summer, I hang the hangers from the spokes of my deck umbrella...

I do this, too. Before we moved we had a metal rolling rack where I could hang the clothes. We also had an over-the-door hanger on the laundry room door. It was large and stuck out from the door at least 6 inches, if not more. I could hang clothes on that.

Right now I have a tension bar across the closet that holds the washer and dryer. If this wasn't an apartment, I'd install a real closet bar. Since the tension bar is flimsy, I only drape a few things over it, or hang light stuff like my bras on it.

In both bathrooms we have an extra tension bar over the bathtub. These are great for air-drying bathing suits and beach towels.

I do this too, with my dress clothes. In the summer I hang them out under the gazabo.

we don't have a dryer, so we do this all the time.  We also have clotheslines in our guest bedroom ( I take the ropes down when guests come) and in our bedroom.  We've saved so much by not having the dryer.  Plus it helps when we have the wood stove going, the humidifier just can't keep up - it gets so dry in here.
