Thread Starter

I've noticed a few of you have started making a summer bucket list. Care to share some of your maybe it will inspire some frugal fun for others!!!

Our bucket list so far

1. complete our photo alphabet for a Christmas project

2. hit a different park each week

3. One cheap theatre movie a month

4. Each kid gets to make dinner and pick the menu once a week

5. Make kites and attempt to fly them

6. Make mini carboard boats(think rigatta style) and attempt to float them in the small creak near our home

Thats a few things my kids have put on our list  what are some things you have on your list?

Okay, I know this isn't what you were looking for, but mine are pretty simple:

Get through both DD18's graduation and DD23's wedding without a hitch.  smile.gif

Actually go on a road trip. Still waiting for DH to give me the dates. He wanted the reservations made by May 1st and it is now the 16th and he hasn't been able to tell me when he can take off LOL. I really hope we finally get a vacation I want out of our city for a week and I want to be more than 100 miles from home.

We haven't had a vacation in more than 10 years - well vacation yes but not more than a 100 miles from home. I need more than a staycation this year. I need a change of scenery big time. I want to go explore and I think I need some big trees.

What are some bucket list ideas for older kids/teens?  My daughter and her friend (they're going in to 7th grade) want to do a bucket list project this summer and I'm trying to help them think of ideas.

  • Volunteer
  • Earn $100
  • Start a blog
  • Put on a play
  • Make a YouTube video
  • Send a message in a bottle
  • Ride a roller coaster
  • Write a song

Can you help me add to their list?

Okay, we have decided to do an alphabet bucket list.  Here are a few examples:

A is for Airport.  My kids LOVE going to the airport to watch the fedex planes, something we usually only do when we have to go pick someone up or drop them off.  I told them we would go just for the fun of it....and maybe even eat at Backyard Burger inside.  :)

B is for Baseball Game.  They wanted to go to a Redbirds game....which they ended up getting to do FOR FREE because my work handed out tickets, including tickets for CONCESSIONS!!!

C is for Cookies.  We do a big cookie thing each year at Christmas..but we are going to do one over the summer, too, and hand them out to the neighbors as prizes!!

D is for Dancing.  We are having a Just Dance for Wii party with some of their friends.  They LOVE that game!

And on and on...

I like your ABC idea, Jenn!

We haven't made a list yet, but I will. The first two items are "move" and "go to Disneyland."  After that gets checked off, I'll make a list.

Some ideas for older kids:

  • learn a new hairstyle (youtube videos!)
  • try a new hobby
  • plan an activity for your whole family
  • learn how to cook something
  • beat a new video game
  • plant a garden
  • make a summer scrapbook
