garage sale question??

If you go to garage sales do you make a list of things you are looking for or do you just set a certain amount of money to spend or just get things that catch your eye?

I don't have a list, but if I see something that I can use and it is at a good price, I buy it.

Sad to say, I am an impulsive shopper but I am coping up on this attitude.

I usually do have items I'm looking for (last year it was a soft ball glove for DD) however, most of the items I buy are things that catch my eye.  I don't usually set a limit on $$ though.  I figure that it usually evens out.  For every sale I hit the jackpot & spend a bit more, there will be many more that I don't find anything (or spend less than $1).

Most of the sales I hit around here are when the neighboring towns have their "city wide" so I can plan in the budget for shopping.  I've become much more disciplined at just driving by the "random" sale.

Both. We keep a list of things we want to purchase second hand. This year it will be furniture and yard equipment / tools. However, I'm not above buying something on an impulse. I try to keep the price to no more than 20% of the retail (sale) price.
