Organizing Cards (photos)

This year my "baby" turned 10. Double digits...that's a big deal, and for the first time HE wanted to keep his cards (usually i just toss them unless they have special meaning) but this is 10...they're all special this year!

I had seen someone keep their cards together with book clips (I don't know the technical name, but they're metal rings that snap together). I stopped at Office Max and saw they were $6.49 (yes for 40, but I just wanted a few), so I thought maybe i can use ribbon instead.

WELL.... After Christmas I had picked up some of this funky wire garland in different colors for $.49 a roll..so I used that....here is what I came up with:

700

(The card on top his sister made for him and it is his FAVORITE). I hole punched each card and threaded the wire through it then tied and knotted it off. Now he has a "book" of birthday cards

356

247

and they'll all stay together!

And now I'm off to dig up all my wedding cards and baby shower cards I had in envelopes and didn't know what to with biggrin.gif

That's a really cute idea!

I have cards from weddings, kid's births, etc. in a shoe box that I covered with scrapbook paper. It's taking up precious space on my overloaded bookcase.

Great idea!

I've done something similar with my daughter's 1st and 2nd birthday cards.  I used ribbon on one, and colored yarn on the other, and also added a front and back cover with scrapbook paper. Then I added pictures from her birthday and special pictures from around birthday time to the backs of the cards and the inside of the "cover," and some small pieces of her party decorations- for instance last year we did a Caillou theme and I used some of the Caillou cutouts in the "book."  I love them, they're mostly for me right now but when she gets older she can decide how to put them together and what else she wants in them, and she'll always have them to look through. :)

Here's a pic of her 1st Birthday one:  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1965037605953&set=a.1563859856760.2072912.1243266958&type=3&theater
