Weed Killing

It got to be too much to use the tea kettle to boil the weeds in the patio and gravel driveway.  I went to home depot and bought a pump sprayer that is meant to hold bleach but I poured in the cheap white vinegar I bought for 99 cents at Shoprite.  Worked like a charm!  DH came home said the garage smelled like salt and vinegar chips.  Since it hasn't rained the driveway still smells of vinegar but no more weeds!!

 

Anyone else have any environmental green weed killing ideas?

Cool!  So you just spray them and they die?  Dh is my weed killer.

I just tried the vinegar too. We live near a drainage opening and I was not worried a bit about adding vinegar to the water system. And, the weeds really did die!  (Just spray the roots well  - unlike my sons who just got the tops a little damp wink.gif)

 

It will also kill your grass so just spray the weeds.

Planning on trying the vinegar this week, if it ever dries up, in these cursed rocks on the front on my house that the previous owners put in. I hate those people.

Me too! We HATE the rock bed. Ugh.

Oh ya dude it was really very helpful tip, how's the combination with vinegar. Does it give any side effect.

 I am not sure what you mean by "combination with vinegar" and side effect?  I bought a pump sprayer at home depot for about $15.00 that is meant hold bleach(one that will last a while, the home depot guy said the cheaper ones only last a couple of sprays and weren't worth the money).  I only use distilled white vinegar (cheapest I can find) in the pump and nothing else.  The patio I still use the tea kettle to boil water and pour on the cracks as I don't want to be eating outside and smelling vinegar. 

 

As far as I know the only side effect is no more weeds.  Some weeds you do have to spray more than once but most will die if you drench the roots. If it doesn't rain in a while the vinegar smell does linger.
