4/23-How much?

How much of their programming do you watch with them on tv? We do watch tv in the evening as a family, and PBSKids is generally what we watch I don't think we switch to a regular channel unless it is a sports thing. We generally watch anything on PBSKids, but some of our favorites are the Electric Company, Wild Kratts, Word Girl, Martha Speaks, and Fetch.

I hardly "watch" any of it, but I listen to it all! My kids don't watch TV, they watch DVDs (movies or TV shows), so it's more controlled.

When they were toddlers, I also didn't watch any of it.  Unfortunately, I did what the experts tell you not to do--I used it for babysitting time so I could get a few things done or to give me a break.  Dh used to love watching Rugrats and Spongebob with them at night, though.

Exactly. If I were going to sit with them and watch it, I'd rather sit with them and read, or play dinosaurs or something instead.

My kids will watch some shows, but mostly they play even when the TV is on.  The 3 year old does request shows now, her faves right now: Dora the Explorer, Team Umizumi, and Yo Gaba Gaba.  She went through a Strawberry Shortcake phase, but doesn't request that one anymore.  She also really liked Caliou for a while, DH couldn't stand that show.  He gets so sick of kid programing, when he is home they don't really watch much of their shows.  They don't bother me, I think I secretly like them actually, LOL.

The TV or NetFlix is always on as background noise (think: blank screen from timing out but the sound is still going). My kid doesn't function well in a silent setting and music overwhelms him sometimes so we let the TV act as white noise so to speak. He only "watches" 2 thirty minute shows a day and sometimes would rather go to bed than watch the second show. Sometimes I feel terrible because our TV is on a lot but when he gets tired of the noise he turns it off himself :).

edited to add.. my DH watches the first episode with him because he works nights and doesn't see DS much. It's a part of their nap time routine. I don't watch TV with him. I clean while he watches his second show IF he watches it at all.
