Have you tried or made Kale chips?

My mom said they are fabulous.  Plus, they're cheap and healthy.  Basically, you just toss kale with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt and bake until crispy.  I can't wait to try them!

I couldn't stomach them. Never tried making my own though.

We occasionally make them, sometimes they come out great and others times they are too bitter. Maybe it depends on the freshness of the kale, maybe it gets bitter as it ages?

I'm trying this tonight! We got our first share of organic produce and fruits Thursday. They do advise to use the Kale within 3 days.. I'm already late oops! I'll take pics and post back in here!

Fingers crossed that the kids like it!

I did try them, but I over salted them horribly.  Be careful about that if you do make them.  Too much salt ruins it.

Here are my pics of the kale chips I made last night. Kim, you were right I did over salt them :(

However, the kids still liked them! I dried mine with a paper towel as I don't have a salad spinner.

In the oven, over salted and with olive oil drizzled over them. I used aluminum paper instead of parchment paper.

Ready to eat! I must say my kids loved it.

Something about dehydrated lettuce chips just doesn't sound appealing haha

I have wanted to try that, but the one time I tried making kale as a side dish, it was so bitter I worry it would taste too bitter.

Yes I make them. I make the super zuppa toscano on allrecipes and I always use kale in it and use the extra kale to make the chips and the kids love them!

We thought so too until we tried them, and I have to say that even my 4 year old who doesn't like green stuff ate them and loved them!
