St. Louis advice

We are going to St Louis and would appreciate some advice.

Do you like the Science Center or the Magic House? Would my 11 year old be too old?

Here is my list of places we want to visit;

Grants Farm

Zoo

City Museum

Arch

Six Flags

maybe the brewery

Which of  those should I dedicate one day to doing besides Great America?

We will have 4 days to spend there basically.

I live in St. louis! :)   As for the Science center or magic house, the magic house is 100 times better, way more stuff to do. My almost 9 year old still loves the Magic House. The science center is one of those things that if you've gone before to all the free exhibits its boring the second time around and so on.   The magic house you CAN not bring food in the place, but you can leave and come back in (same day) must see the front desk first though so you can re-enter.

The city MUSEUM is awesome, it is a lot of fun for kids and adults alike. Some places that the kids crawl through are dark, so bring a small flashlight for the kids just in case.

If you go to the zoo make sure to go to Turtle park after (right near it). Here are some pictures of it: http://playgrounddesigns.blogspot.com/2010/03/turtle-park-playground-st-louis-bob.html

Zoo: if you go early in the morning (first hour of opening) the carousel, children's area and 1-2 more things depending on the season are FREE. If you park close, you pay for parking if you park on the road short walk or long walk depends FREE. You can bring food into the zoo, no glass bottles.

I personally would skip Six Flags or put it on the bottom of the list. (But that's just my opinion).

Grants farm is sweet and I love it and so do the kids. Bring cash $1.00. You can feed the goats for $1.00 a baby bottle.  Parking is $12.00 I think but its a super short walk otherwise there is free parking, but a longer walk. Some people have trouble finding the free parking, there is a path from the main street that leads to grants farm. Park on the other side of the main street, it's an empty gravel road next to empty land.

No experience with the Arch. (Bring change for parking).

I like the ABB, anheuser busch brewery a lot, I love the smell too! Fun Fun to go to. Short Won't last all day, not even half the day. There is also Shafley's beer. -Great outside/inside restaurant too.

My almost 9 year old loves the history museum Sometimes (depends on the exhibit).

There is also a Butterfly house, carousel and awesome playground park at Faust Park.

I didn't notice the first time I read this that you're only going to be there 4 days. Personally I think you have enough already to fill 4 days. You might want to have a back up but that's quite a bit to fit in.

I've been to St. Louis once and I was alone. I did go to The Arch. You know what? It was really interesting. I think it was more interesting than the Statue of Liberty.

Other than tooling around downtown (there was a German Festival going on), I didn't do much of interest. EXCEPT, I drove out of town to a cavern and did a guided tour. That was really interesting. There was even a tornado while we were down there and we couldn't tell except for a bit more running water. The drive back to the hotel was longer after that. Luckily the rent-a-car wasn't damaged.

A neighbor told me to eat at Fitz's. (Is that the name of the place that makes its own root beer). What stop is that near?

Not sure about Fit'z.   But what about Fritz Frozen Custard?  http://www.fritzsfrozencustard.com/

I've heard from a few people that the city museum is AMAZING.  I recently did the Arch thing (I was there without the kids), and that was cool too.

I've been told that the City Museum takes almost a full day. How easy is it to lose your child? My neighbor lost her son for 20 minutes, but she said there are employees everywhere with walkie talkies and clip boards keeping track. He went down one slide and ended up on a different floor. It sounds like a blast and I am definitely taking them to that. Oldest dd will have her cell phone. My sister and bil and I can divide among different floors to help keep track of them I would think.
