Do coupons REALLY save you money over buying store brand?

I don't think so most of the time.  I use coupons when it is something I specifically want, but otherwise, generic is almost always cheaper.  What about you?

I save my coupons for sales.  If there is a sale, almost all the time, I can get the brand name cheaper than the generic.  I just compare costs with everything I buy, unless it is a brand we prefer.

Generally no. I would rather just o to Aldi and buy their stuff.

I save more for the most part at Aldi's. Sometimes I can save money with coupons, but I compare prices before blindly using them.

Generic? Heck, I can usually find a different brand that is cheaper than the brand with the coupon.

When the item is on sale AND I use a coupon it is almost always cheaper than generic.

Example, just a few days ago I bought dole pinapple canned for 33 cent the large one.

I guess one has to make sure to only use the coupon with a sale.

Generally no, only when you pair them with sales does it work out that way

Yep, if you can wait and use your coupon with a sale, I usally find product cheaper than store brand. And one of things I like about shopping a 'real grocery store' as opposed to Walmart is I find alot of thier name brand products become loss leaders and become CHEAPER than a Walmart price or a store brand.

Yes if I can combine it with a sale or get it at Harris Teeter (even better when it is on sale!) they double coupons up to 99 cents. I have found I am saving more by trying to do the majority of my shopping at ALDI, and at BJ's (with coupons!) .

I think it depends on the situation and that you need to check the prices on an item by item basis.  I do agree that I'd rather go to Aldi's and buy my staples there.  Then I don't need to hassle with clipping, sorting and remembering to use my coupons.  I am not great about doing that.  I mostly shop at Aldi's and at a local store that has great prices on meat and produce.  Between those two places, I cut my grocery bill by at least a third.
