:)

We went camping a couple times before we had kids.  It's not really my thing.  Staying at his family's cabin where six people share a bathroom is roughing it enough for me.  Plus, I went there before they had indoor plumbing and electricity (they used gas lamps).  I'd rather camp than use an outhouse.  That's gross.

All I have to say is who ever thought that camping was a fun idea didn't spend the entire past weekend keeping the toddler from wandering off, getting into stuff, not napping well, not sleeping well.

Making sure the dog is behaving, keeping track of my 6 year old who thinks she is a big kid and wants to be off on her own but most of the time needs entertaining.

Listening to the inlaws tell us we should get a small trailer. Really its all we can afford just to come camping with you once a year for a weekend

So yes I go camping, even have a decent time when I am there and settled but it is a whole lot of work for me. I go with family or friends alone only if we were on a road trip.

I Like cabins, go away, get out without the huge set up and clean up of camping especially tent camping.

I grew up doing a lot of camping, it was what my family could afford: week long dune camping with pit toilets or shorter camping trips in the redwoods and bathrooms. I now prefer cabins or comfy hotels with pools and jacuzzis.

Dh and I camped some before kids and camped twice when ds was a toddler and that was nut with wandering off and not sleeping. We have not gone since having dd. Now she's old enough to skip nap, so we can probably try again. Just car camping, with air mattresses, stove, lanterns, comfy chairs and bathrooms, preferably with showers, for maybe 2 nights and only about 45 minutes away in the redwoods. It is a lot of work, but I'm hoping if I have a good attitude about it and keep meals, etc, simple, it should be okay. And I know my kids would love it.

I wish we could have a camper, but we don't have the money to buy one, or the car to pull it, or the space to store it.

We camped a LOT growing up (I swear I've been to every KOA this side of the Mississippi) but we haven't been since having kids. It does not sound like fun with kids.

I'm not totally against camping.  I don't mind the bugs and sleeping on the ground and stuff like that, but the heat in a tent is just alot for me.  I know, I'm a wimp, but it gets so humid here.  Now, in the fall its not so bad.  With that being sad, I usually leave the camping to my DH and my son.  And I enjoy the quiet of having the house to myself for the night.  LOL

I do like nature though and I'm all about camping in a cabin.  We already have a summer trip planned to do that.  We have considered getting a pop up or something.  I think I would enjoy that much more.

Yes, we camp. Before kids, DH and I used to backpack in the high country for up to five days. I must've been crazy in love. He prefers no tent, just sleeping under the stars, and I admit it's pretty, but it's not my thing. After having kids, we bought a big tent and more gear. And I agree that camping with little ones is work, and not relaxing, but it's better when they get older. Oh, and I have to have a campground with showers.

This past weekend was the first time we ever rented an RV. Wow. What a difference! I MUCH preferred it to the tent, but DH and our DD's are not ready to give in. We'll be doing more tent camping this summer!

I am not opposed to "Cabin Camping" but to me that is not Real camping as in a tent.  But I don't do tent camping anymore.  I did up to my early 30's, when I woke up like a pretzel (after maybe falling asleep at 2:00 or 3:00 am and then getting up at 6:00 am) I decreed my tent camping days over.
