TLC's Extreme Couponing is back tonight... will you be tuning in?  Why or why not?

I will probably tape it and watch it tomorrow only because the "Coupon Kid" is a local boy.  They had a write up about him in the paper and the story of how and why he got into couponing was pretty amazing.

Nope. TLC glorifies mis-use of coupons.

Same here.  And that show I believe is single handedly ruining good couponing for honest couponers.

I watch it just to shake my head at them. I've had people try to compare me to the people on the show, I get really upset! I don't clear shelves, I don't buy 100 of anything and I don't do anything fraudulent. Now to the people on the show that do it for a good cause, that is a different story but still I think that show promotes more towards the wrong end of couponing!

I know same here.

However, I have to just comment quickly on the people that do it for charity too, its still too much.  Coupons are provided by the manufacter, to get us  to buy thier product, try it out, ect ect ect.  Even people who shop for charities end up buying 50 things of mustard just because they can get it for free.  Yes the donate it, but do they NEED to do it?? Can't they just buy the limit (usually 4 at my store) and move on??  And stuff like Mustard, ketchup, salad dressings, breadcrumbs, ect regularly go on sale all summer long. I can easily buy 4 one week, then go back the next week and get 4 more for free.  I STILL have salad dressing and mustard from LAST summer that we havn't gotten to yet.  And I DID end up donating quite a bit around Christmas time when the pantries were asking for donations.

Here is a blog about how the coupons used in last night's episode were counterfeit: http://jillcataldo.com/extreme_couponing_returns_with_more_counterfeit_coupons.

It's pretty clear that the stores will accept these coupons and break the rules just for the free publicity the show offers.

Exactly. It is publicity on the store's part and entertainment on TLC's part. The fact that it screws over the legitimate coupon users is just seen as an inconvenience.  I like the stores that double just for the show....I wonder if people could go in with a clip of the episode on their smart phone and talk a manager into doing it for them haha  Or go into a store with the counterfeit coupons and the smartphone trick and go "see, you took hers. Why won't you take one of mine?"  Maybe if I let the kiddos film me and I promise to put it on youtube I can get preferential treatment too!

I haven't watched the show yet and I usually don't for all the reasons everyone has stated.  I don't understand why the stores would accept these coupons for the show and then turn around and give real customers a hard time with legitimate coupons.  How many times have we used a coupon correctly only to be questioned by the clerk as if we did something wrong?
