31 Days of RAKs: Memorial Day Weekend

Thread Starter

I was out of town over the long Memorial Day weekend.  It can be challenging to find RAKs when you're out of your regular routine, but these are a few that I was able to do:

  • On Friday, I attended a blogger event in Chicago and had the opportunity to tip the bellman at the hotel a little more than usual.
  • During the conference, a woman I was sitting next to said she was cold.  I had a sweater in my tote bag and loaned it to her to wear.
  • While at Walmart over the weekend, I gave the kids more money than usual for the funnel "game" that benefits the Children's Miracle Network (shown here).
  • On Monday, when we got home we had discovered that our neighbor had mowed our lawn while we were gone.  We ran into them at our local bar/restaurant that evening and paid their bill.

You are so good at this, Kim!

I tend to forget the things I do that would count.

Friday we were attending a Gospel concert that R was performing in, and afterwards, I made sure to compliment every singer I could that came out into the audience (it wasn't hard to do--they were awesome).

Saturday I passed my Aldi cart to someone in the parking lot without accepting their quarter. Saved them a few steps too.  I also gave a quarter to someone who wanted to exchange it for two dimes and a nickel (she wouldn't just take my quarter--and she was waiting in line behind me for the clerk to do this).

Sunday I stayed home--but I did text a friend who is having a hard time with her daughter just to tell her I was thinking of her.

Monday, I let a car take the closer parking space near the store entrance.  He saw me pull in front of him and I think he believed I was going to scoot right in.  Felt good to do that.

I've fell off the wagon in keeping up with this :(  I need to start jotting them down daily so I can remember to post them. I'm going from today back to last week.

Today (Thursday) - DS had his first grade ceremony awards yesterday. One little boy in his class did not have his parents there. The principal took the time with each kid to take a picture. I sent a picture of him to the teacher to send to his parents.

Wednesday - Went early to the store to execute my weekly shopping plan. Because I had coupons that were about to expire and I just buy what I need. I left extra coupons all over the store next to BOGO items or anything that was on sale.

Tuesday - While couponing, (planning for Wed) I set aside coupons for specific people that I know use certain products. When I went to school to pick up DS I gave the coupons to my PTA ladies :)

Monday - Gave my sister some extra items from my stockpile.

Sunday - Went to the Family Christian Store to pick up a book I had ordered for bonus daughter. For extra $5 I could send a Bible to a child in Mexico, so that's what I did and I got to write a note to the recipient.

Saturday - Went to the water park. We bough some ice cream and they put it in these little pails with a shovel. A little boy was playing in the sand and kept looking at our empty buckets. I rinsed ours and gave it to him to play and keep. He loved it. Big Smile!
