Campfire Roasted STARBURSTS

Here's a fun, new twist on roasted marshmallows.  My husband mentioned these to me when we were first married, but this past weekend was the first time we ever actually tried making roasted Starburst.

First, unwrap the Starbursts and put them on your roasting stick.  They'll be a little hard to push on, but will go through quickly toward the end, so don't poke yourself.

Hold the Starbursts over the coals, just like roasting marshmallows.

When the Starbursts are melty and a little bubbly on top, remove them from the coals.  Let them cool slightly, then carefully remove them from the roasting stick. Don't burn yourself!  Be especially careful when giving roasted Starburst to children, because they will still be hot.

Delicious! They're a little crunchy, but soft on the inside.  A lot like a roasted marshmallow...

Roasting Starbursts intensifies the flavors, so if there's a flavor of Starburst you don't care for, you probably won't like it roasted.  We both thought the lemon tasted like Pine Sol.  Next time, we're going to try the tropical-flavored Starbursts!

What a great idea! My kids love starbursts. This one is definitely going in our book of to-dos for summer.

Thanks for sharing!

We tried the Tropical Starbursts and they were WAY better than the original ones! My favorites are the mango and pina colada.  Hubby liked all of the Tropical flavors.

Yum!  Thank you!  We'll have to try this.  Ds loves Starburst, but (I still can't believe this) he decided he doesn't like roasted marshmallows!  All summer long the neighbors would have him over to roast marshmallows and he'd eat them.  When I bought some for us to do as a family, ds looked at me and said, "I don't like roasted marshmallows!"  I then asked him about the countless times at the neighbors.  He was like, "Oh, I just do there for the kids, not the marshmallows", but he would ea them to be polite.  Who knew?!  Maybe he will like the Starburst!!

Can't wait to make these this year! We'll have our first campfire next week and I'm going to pick up some Starbursts to roast.
