Frugal Summer Fun: Go to a wine tasting!

I can't believe how FRUGAL this was.  We checked out a local winery, Indian Island Winery.  It was only $5 for seven tastes and you got to keep the glass.  You can't beat that!

Here is a site that has a winery locator by state.  I don't think it's complete, because I know of a couple near me that are not on the list.  Still it's a start.  http://www.allamericanwineries.com/AAWMain/locate.htm

Do you have any wineries in your area?

We've done this where we live, too. We went with another couple and had a great time!

It says we have 31 in Indiana. I know of many of them but for some reason have never done tastings at them. We have done lots of tastings before though, but usually when we're on vacation and want to try out their local wines. We've also done the Napa Valley wine tours twice before. We got glasses from all our favorite wineries. I had a girlfriend who had been in my wedding who went with DH & I. She and I had a great time while he was mostly the designated driver. We needed one after doing Napa Valley!!!! biggrin.gif

One of DH's cousins lives nears a winery and she recently had her DD's graduation open house. She had the yummiest blackberry merlot she got there. I wished we had stopped on our way home to get some!!!

Those are cute glasses! They'd be fun to own.

I have lots of friends that are 'wine snobs' LMAO, and go to winerys often!     There are several very close to my house and I have wanted to do it with them even though I'm not a huge fan of wine.

We have a lot in our area but it isn't very frugal - well maybe if you only went to one winery but most go to several and most are $10 a person per so it gets $$ pretty quick. DH is my designated driver. We also will go to the local craft breweries - that seems to be cheaper.
