Red Box rentals can be returned at any machine. Rent movies for the car ride and return in the next city.

Raising two precious grandchildren, this old granny wants to make sure the kiddie are happy as well as grandma and papa.  I have a strong zippered bad in the trunk that I keep light snacks, water, chargers for their games, books, wet wipes, and blankets.  I periodically switch out all items except game chargers.

I'm trying this with my soon to be first grader who is learning to write on our upcoming family vacation.  I bought a journal book and I am going to have her write about her trip in the journal and draw some pictures (or add pictures that we take later) to the book.

Also, for our family vacation (Black Hills of South Dakota), I researched all of the different activities available, but couldn't find a website to organize times, prices, coupons, and interesting things about the area.  I put together my own little travel guide with our top 10 places to visit that has the location (to use for the GPS), the coupon to use to get the best price, and a short summary of the attraction.  I think it will make the trip go much more smoothly having this prepared in advance!

Pack All sorts of different healthy snack, that can be for plane ride or car ride. And of course variety of books, and Kids Song CD, and sing along when they are getting bored. :)

charge every single mechanical device your kids own the night before, so every time one dies you have another one to offer. (if they don't want to read or do puzzles any more, lol.)

I always make sure to pack healthy snacks since most meals on the road tend to be less than nutritious. We drink rice and or coconut milk so I find single serve packs to take. I also make sure to pack my arnica(homeopathic inflamation reducer) for any bumps or bruises and Vit. C to boost their immune systems while traveling. Illness stinks no matter what but when you're traveling it's even worse.

Invest in an android tablet and load it with free apps for the kids... From coloring to paper dolls... There are tons to choose from. I saw an ad for a tablet for $89 at biglots. I let my daughter use my kindle fire.

Take a trip to the dollar store and buy items that your little ones won't see until you hit the road. One dollar can equal an hour of entertainment... Worth every penny!!!
