How useful do you find most phone apps?

I think apps are a really cool idea, however I find them to be minimally useful.  I am very dissapointed at how fast my phone battery dies if I try to use an app.  We went to Hershey Park and tried to use the app, it was much easier to just use the map.  I also recently downloaded the Aldi App, lets just say I turned around and deleted it off my phone.

I love my weather channel app; my walking app, when it works; my GPS app, again, when it works; BBC app; FB app; My Fittness Pal app, when I use it. I see Safeway has an app and I need to try it but we'll see. I am skeptical. Oh yeah and when I travel new places, I love the Find Starbucks app.

Weather and key ring are my favorites.  The flashlight app was great when we lost power. wink.gif

I really like the ebba app.  I think it's the equivalent to my envelopes.  I tried the cash/envelope system and it didn't work for me.  This works wonderfully though.  I can still use my card (and get my points) and as long as I log it, I can track my different categories easily.

I don't have a smartphone, and therefore no apps, and I manage just fine. So I'd say there are no necessary apps.

Actually my phone is almost always off, and I only have it for emergencies or because dh is addicted to his, and I still manage lol (I'd prefer to just not have one at all)

Me too.

Of course none are necessary, but the question was how USEFUL do you find them.

I love Runkeeper for keeping track of my runs and calories burned. The Weather Channel app is great, too. I don't watch a lot of TV and my local news station's website is difficult to manage, so the weather app makes it easier for me to plan activities, such as pool and park, with the boys. I also like My Fitness Pal for keeping track of calorie intake and workouts. Not necessary, but it's something I enjoy and helps me feel a sense of accomplishment. I also like the Kindle app on my phone for reading sometimes when I'm in bed and can't fall asleep. I own some poetry books on the Kindle and I enjoy reading them and winding down before bed.

The battery does run down easily and that is a downfall. I am almost never without a charger.

I forgot about the flashlight app. I use that more than I make phone calls on my phone.

I don't have a smartphone.

I loved the flashlight app though on another's phone when the electricity went out in the Y and we could see NOTHING in the girl's locker room.
