Would you consider swapping houses with a stranger to save money on a vacation?

I always thought no one would be interested in swapping our home, but we do have many local attractions that would be enticing to some people.

However, I am not sure I could open my home to strangers for any length of time.

How about you?  Would this be something you'd consider if it was an easy process?

And come back to a house totally void of possessions? Nope.

I think those vacation swap things- people have to sign up for them via an organization, they are supposedly checked out or they agree to abide by rules. I would not worry about theft because YOU are staying in THEIR home - so you know where they live. And they are hoping you are not stealing their stuff. Mostly, I wouldn't want people poking around in my drawers, papers, etc.

That's true. It would be a super easy way to case it for someone else to come in later and wipe you out though. Maybe I'm just paranoid biggrin.gif

I feel the same way.  It seems like a hassle because you would have to make sure all your private things are locked up.

I would be worried about identity theft and I wouldn't feel comfortable having strangers in my home.

No,I wouldn't feel comfortable at all.

We have looked into it a bit, but I just don't think that when push came to shove that I could do it, it's just WAY too personal.

And if I did have a clear out of the things that I wouldn't want being looked at /touched, that would take up too much time!

I wouldn't. It probably is a great way to save money, but it just wouldn't be worth it to me.
