We have a contractor coming Tuesday to give us a quote on remodeling the Guest bathroom

We are gutting the whole bathroom. We are taking out the tub, the subway tile on the walls and in the shower. We are replacing the toilet and vanity. Also the lights and he cabinets and floor in the bathroom.

I am thinking about a claw footed tub, but I am not sure. I do know that I want a bone color tub, toilet and a chocolate vanity with a bone sink. I also want a dark wood look floor maybe a bamboo, but not sure.

Would you get a claw footed tub?

It would depend on if it was a bath mostly for looks, or if it was my main bath. I don't know how many bathrooms you have. If it's a tub mostly for looks, then yes, I think they're very attractive. If it was the one I had to use all the time I think it would be a pain to shower in so, no in that case.

Ooops. I just was reading the body of the post and ignored the title that says it's for a guest bath. In that case, I'd like it.

Actually the guest bathroom is the only one with a bathtub. Our master bath just has a shower. And I take baths everynight. I rarely take a shower. So it would get use every day.

My only concerns would be that although I love a good bath, most of my guests prefer showers.  So I don't know if I would do a claw foot tub because in order to have the shower, you'd need the "U" shaped shower curtain 'track'.  I personally never liked that look much (I had one in one of my apartments, with a slipper tub) so I don't think I would personally do it.

Ok I read the entire thread and now I have mixed opinions.  So if you are going to use it every day, and use the bath, then I guess that changes everything.  I guess your guests could always use Your shower if they wanted one and you didn't want to put the shower hardware in, although I wouldn't be super comfortable with that.

 Do you have guests frequently?

I agree with this. I LOVE the look of claw foot tubs, but think it ruins the look if you have to add one of those wrap around shower curtains. I also agree that everyone I know takes a shower, so it would be inconvenient for guests. I had originally thought it was going in a bathroom that wasn't really used for bathing.

Is there room in that bath for a separate shower and tub? I think clawfoot tubs are very pretty, but I wouldn't want to use it for a daily bath. I think it would be hard to clean and get in/out of, because they are high-sided. You need to lift your leg high to step in/out of it. I'm 48, but I don't see myself getting younger. We have a regular jet tub and I find that hard to step in/ out of.

Ok, ya'll made me change my mine. This is why I asked this question and wanted feed back.

We will be getting a regular fiberglass tube and surround.

I've had claw-footed tubs. People like them because, being cast iron, they hold the heat of the water really, really well (better than fiberglass). However, you need ROOM for a claw-footed tub - they can't be pushed up against a wall or be shoved into a corner. That defeats the purpose of having a stand-alone tub.

I don't think they are hard to get in and out of but if it comes to that a little stool works perfect. :) I LOVE the look of them but to me they need to be in a bathroom with space so you can see them.  With that being said I would get one esp if you like baths the deepness is what you are going for. :) I love my deep soaker jetting tub but it is hard to keep clean but that has to do with the jets.

If we didn't have a hot tub outside, I would get a tub with the jets in a heartbeat.

But I can't justified the expense, when we have a hot tub/spa that we get into just about every day or evening.
