both me feet are swollen but my right one is really bad.

I am 36 weeks tomorow and never have had any issues with blood presure(with any of my kids) but I have had protein in my urine , and we always chalk that up to me not getting enough fluids , anyhow should I be concerned? Iknow swelling is normal and all but my feet are freezing so I would think that would help keep it down?

(it is pretty humid out but  I have also stayed inside )

Here is what I found on webmd.com:

Quote:

Pregnancy complications. Some swelling of the ankles and feet is normal during pregnancy. Sudden or excessive swelling, however, may be a sign of preeclampsia, a serious condition in which high blood pressure and protein in the urine develop after the 20th week of pregnancy. If you experience severe swelling or swelling accompanied by other symptoms such as abdominal pain, headaches, infrequent urination, nausea and vomiting, or vision changes, call your doctor immediately.

I don't know how reliable that site is though, but it gives you a base to go by.  If it were me and I was even a little nervous, I would call the doctor.  There is always one on call and they can ease your fears or have you go in to get checked.  I would keep my feet up to try and reduce the swelling as much as I could.

Is the doctor monitoring it closely? I had a TON of swelling in mine, but it was for most of the pregnancy, not just all of a sudden. I would want the doctor to be monitoring my blood pressure, the swelling, and the protein frequently. I know when my pressure, etc started going up at the end, they even did a stress test on the baby. The good news is at least you're far enough along that if you do start having problems, they could deliver you now.

Yes, be concerned. As a matter of fact, call your doctor's office and talk to the on-call doc or nurse. You may need to run to the local ER and get your blood pressure checked.

I'm serious. Please call.

I called and the oncall Ob suggested I go to ER and make sure its not a blood clot.

(my mom was just in the hosp last night for chest pains etc) I think my family is jinxed! LOl

I am going to put my foot up more than it was before while my kids get showered and then we will go, They do not like to be home alone at night,

and since my mom just was in the hosptital I want her resting not hanging out here.

Good idea to call the OB! Keep us updated! Hopefully it's just a normal thing and no worries! Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy.

SIL had one leg swell up worse than the others and she had a blood clot.  She ended up having to give herself shots the rest of her pregnancy.  It was a mess.  I hope it isn't that.  Sounds like your OB is on top of it though.  Let us know what you find out.
