When you are at someone else's house, is there anything you will notice if it isn't clean? - Page 2

Bathrooms and kitchens, especially refrigerators. My sil's house is filthy. There is always hair in her fridge and even the soap dispenser in the bathroom is covered in dirt.

I notice if the crockery I'm given to eat/drink from isn't clean. Otherwise, I really don't care.

It isn't a big deal but usually when there is company, it is one of the few times when the TV is off in many households. So I always get a giggle when I see the TV screen - especially the newer flat panel screens which are a pain to clean - are dusty and dirty.

I will notice if a bathroom floor, sink or toilet isn't clean.  The rest not really unless it was really obvious.

I cleaned my fridge last night.  Thankfully, I saw no hairs.

I'm also wondering how hair gets in the fridge!

This thread put me into a cleaning frenzy yesterday. The fear of the judgmental drop by.

I'll notice if someone's bathroom is really icky, like a brown toilet. And if the kitchen is full of nasty dishes that haven't been done in days. I have a small kitchen and one very small bathroom, so I understand how quickly they can get messy, but neither should be moldy, mildewy, brown or green.

I admit to noticing strong animal smells and sometimes they are really icky. We got our nice couches a couple years ago from a neighbor that has two little dogs, it took three steam cleans to get the dog smell out, it was so gross! I have two indoor cats and a fluffy border collie and my house does not smell like animals, I get comments on it all the time when people are surprised to see cats because they did not smell the boxes. I don't use air freshener, I open the windows every day and keep the hair and litter cleaned up.

The reason I started it was that book club is at my house tomorrow.  We don't entertain much at all, but when company comes, I want to make sure it is clean--or at least the parts they'll notice are clean.
