Do you freeze bread? - Page 2

Yes, when it is B1G1 free, I buy four loaves.  We go through it in 2 weeks.

Yes and no one here can tell the difference, unless it was freezer burned, which I would not serve if it was.  I currently have about 6 loaves of wheat bread in my freezer, 2 loaves of Italian, 1 of sourdough, and probably about at (least) 6 packages of wheat hot dog and wheat hamburger buns.  They were on sale for $1.18 which is a fantastic price for whole wheat (not wheat-like).   I don't know how anyone can tell the difference between frozen or not unless like I said it was freezer burned.  I know restaurants do it all the time.  My brother who worked in a restaurant also told me you can freeze and re-freeze bread over and over and it will not lose quality.

Also I have found it's better for me to thaw bread on the countertop rather than in the fridge.  If I do that, it will either get hard or soggy.  I thaw it just until it is not frozen, then I pop it in the fridge.  I refrigerate all our bread too.

I totally agree.  I just put it out on the counter to thaw.  I bet you could not tell the difference in a taste test.

I totally agree too.  I find no difference in fresh versus frozen bread (after it has thawed).  I have also heard that storing it in the refrigerator affects it's quality.

I prefer the taste if it has not been frozen and my dh will not eat it if it has been frozen, he can tell the difference. I don't like bread that is stored in he refrigerator either. I am not picky about many foods, just breads.

Yes, like other posters, I just take it out and thaw it on the counter and then into the pantry it goes. We go through 2 or 3 loaves a week during the school year, so I stock up when I go to the Bread Outlet.

Nope. I don't care for frozen bread. Bread isn't so expensive that I need to stock up on it at bargain prices. I'd rather have fresh bread.

I must be cheap because I think bread is very expensive.  Decent whole wheat bread is over $3 a loaf.

We do, but it's only because I buy so much each time I shop, we'd never get through it before it would get icky on the counter.  We live too far from town to run in every time I need some, and it's just too expensive to buy from the gas/convenience store on the highway.
