Teaching a baby not to pull hair...HELP!!! - Page 2

OH also DON"T Say ouch as that is a response and she is doing it to get the response.  My 2nd was very bad at doing this. I would tell her NO that it hurt after I removed her hand from my hair.

mini dd was so bad....  she pulled everyones hair, even on dh's chest!

I pretended to cry, like itt REALLY hurt.  Now that can backfire too, cause I did that with baby dd and she started laughing!

"It hurts when you pull Mommy's hair" and untangle their hand from it

If they did it again, "That hurts. If you pull my hair again I will put you down." untangle their hand

If a third time. "That hurts Mommy. I have to put you down now." Put them down

Obviously with an infant that doesn't work, but C is old enough to get it. DS was a grabber and this worked with him. DD just tried to pat me and would get her chubby baby hands caught in it haha

DS is/was a hair puller.

Everytime he did it I would put him away from him and tell him NOT ALLOWED. It did help me when I put my and DD hair in a plait. If he did grab it, at least it did not hurt as much and easier to get him untangled.

He was doing it to the girls at daycare too, girls round the same age as him - he came back with a few bite marks on his hands - school said it stopped after that.

Mari, NONE of mine pulled hair!!  Come to think of it, too, after each baby, I ended up getting my hair cut OFF for ease!  LOL   :)  This time around, E has super long hair, my youngest has super long hair, and I have just past shoulder length.  We ALL have started just doing pony tails, but man is that aggravating.  I guess we will just keep saying no.  Hopefully she will figure it out.  Before I go bald!!!
