Do you pack a lunch to save money on eating out for road trips? - Page 2

I do not but I do bring a few snacks. I save some money when we take our yearly vacation up north by bringing most of my dry goods and snacks from home. We make a special Aldi trip since grocery prices are high there.

I try to pack some kind of snacks or food when I travel. If I have it at home, I would rather bring it with me than pay twice as much at a gas station!

Yes we do. I also take snacks.

We haven't done that often, but I'm thinking as DD gets older and more kids come along, we'll start doing it more.

Not often enough for my liking, but I do make sure to always bring a few drinks with us at all times so i don't have to hear "i'm thirsty" & don't have to stop at a convenience store & pay exorbitant prices.

Yesterday we were gone for most of the day & we did pack drinks for all day & stuff for sandwiches for lunch as well as cherries & grapes.    Not much was left in the cooler when we got home.  smile.gif

We do pack lunch often when traveling if the weather is nice.  We prefer finding a nice park or rest area along the way for lunch just so that we can get out of the car and move around.  We will normally have lunch then walk a few laps or throw the frisbee around before getting back into the car.

Yes, if we are out we usually bring along water...the past three years we have packed the cooler with a picnic lunch on our way to the beach (8hours away) and stopped at the rest area and ate and walked it is fun, now the girls say its our tradition lol.

We always do. We don't leave the house without ice water for all of us. If we are going for more than an hour, I take extra water in our cooler. We always take snacks. Pretzels, Cashews, peanuts, cheez-its, granola bars or the like. If it's a longer outing, we pack sandwiches as well. This keeps us away from fast food most of the time smile.gif

We bring a LOT of snacks (everything from candy and chips to yogurt, cheese, hummus etc), but usually we either eat one meal out because we're travelling overnight, or the snacks can hold us to our destination.

It's rare that we'll make an actual lunch of sandwiches or something, but we've done it.
