Having receipts emailed to you.

has anyone else done this? I recently purchased a new lawnmower for DH from Sears. They gave me the option of emailing the receipt or printing it out. I did both. But I now have the email version saved in my in. box.

Anyone else do this?

Old Navy offers this all the time. I usually decline because I don't want to take time at the register to spell out my very long and complicated e-mail address.

However, I love the idea of storing receipts digitally.

Lowes has started an affinity program where they store all your receipts on their website under your account name. I love that. Of course, they're tracking your purchases, too. But this program at least has a benefit to me, too. Not only are the receipts there but all the warranty and rebate information, too.

I've never heard of that!  That's a great idea!  I somehow happen to always lose my receipts before I get home!! :)

I have been having it done for about 3 months at kmart.

One good thing is that if you have to take something back, you don't have to have a paper receipt. They just pull it up on the computer at the service desk.

I have it done at Kmart but they make me crazy. At first they would ask if I wanted a paper receipt to go along wiht the email. I said no. Now they give me both regardless. Idea was that I didnt' want a gazillion receipts floating around in my purse/wallet. Waste of paper.

Most hotels will do that as well.  I decline at Old Navy too, because if I use my Old Navy Card they can look it up that way (the same at Target).  I wish more stores would attach your receipts to the card you used with it so you wouldn't have to keep paper receipts at all.

I use that service more for work (hotel and flight, hiring contractors, equipment rentals, tool and jobsite purchases, etc), but most companies will do it for private use as well. Everything is stored on a computer, it's not like it's difficult to do. Plus, it saves the company on postage.

However, as a consumer, I don't like the fact that stores can keep all this information tied to you, your bank/card info, etc. I pay cash in stores as much as possible.

My bank offers this. I can have the receipt sent to my bank "inbox" or to my email address on file.

I like the idea of less physical paperwork to keep track of smile.gif
