Tips for Avoiding Long Lines at the Checkout - Page 2

I've learned not to go to Walmart after church on Sunday!  Everyone in the county is there!  I think weekday mornings or afternoons are probably the best time to go for easy check-out.

I'm with everyone else on self check-out......they're nice if you only have a few items, no weighing, and no coupons.  Otherwise, it's probably faster to go to an actual cashier.

** This is a really random fact, but in one of my college classes were talking about self check-outs.....did you know that just one of those machines is over $25,000!  I would say a store has to take in a lot of money to justify that!! :)

Yikes!  And you usually see about 4-6 of them going unused at Walmart around here.

Here's a tip for you all: The fastest line is the one I am not in.  I swear, I am like a magnet for the problem line. Price checks, someone sending a kid back to get another container of something, problems with their payment. At my regular grocery store, there is no problem. It is a very small store w/ only 2 checkout lanes. If the first line has 3 people in line, they open the second lane. I am never more than #2 or 3 in line, if I don't just walk up. Or if there is only one person ahead of me at the only cashier, they tend to open customer service for me to go there.

Costco is hit or miss. If the lines are really bad, we'll go self-serve, unless we're buying alcohol. Avoiding weekends is the key there.

Ha!

I am always behind the person who is writing a check!  Before I get bashed from you check writers...it's not the check it's the unpreparedness and all the crap that has to go with it... ;-)
