Boots with shorts

The other thread about socks with sandals got me to noticing people yesterday at walmart!!!LOL

I saw several people with short on with boots. To me this look very strange considering it was near 100 degrees.

Do you see this a lot and does it look strange to you.

I absolutely LOVE the look of short boots with shorts. Sort of like Meghan Fox in that Rhianna/Eminem music video. Now I don't wear them since I don't wear shorts, but I think they're SO cute on teen/young adult women.

But doesn't it look strange to wear boots in 100 degree weather?

As a fashion statement, I don't really like it. I think ankle/short boots are rarely flattering on anyone. You've essentially just chopped 3" off your leg, it's going to make you look stumpy.

From a practicality standpoint, you need to do what you need to do. ie: working outside when it's crazy hot. I'll wear shorts and my steel toes, or shorts and my sh** kickers. If I've got to make a run to home depot in the midst of it than so be it. I'm not trying to impress anyone, I'm just trying to be comfortable.

Again....not to me. I think it's really cute (not on just anyone, but cute young people).

Hmmm....every time I watched that Eminem video all I thought was how hot Meghan Fox looked. I remember even showing my DD and telling her I wanted her to get an outfit like that I thought it was so cute. The word stumpy never entered my mind!!

I have seen girls at the stores with high  winter boots on and shorts.  I would sweat to death.

At ds school I would see the girls in their uniforms (in May and June) and high winter boots.  I also see kids in sub zero degree weather that don't wear coats to school, and are in short sleeves in the middle of a blizzard.  Seems bizarre to me, but a lot of these kids are dropped off by nannies who couldn't care less but sometimes it was by parents too.  Hard to figure out.

I also agree with the fashion statement post of short boots and shorts.  I no of no person in real life that could carry this off successfully.

Since my legs are only two feet long (at best!) anyway...LOL...I could never wear boots regardless.  I work in a bank and see lots of people who work outside on construction sites or whatever come in wearing boots and shorts...for comfort's sake.  And chances are, they wouldn't be wearing the boots if they weren't a requirement!  Yes, it does look odd but they don't care because again, it's for the sake of keeping as cool as possible.

For fashion....here in Redneckville, young girls think it's cute to wear Daisy Dukes and Red Wing boots or cowboy boots.  Me?  Not so much.  On the flip side...and oddly, I guess...I do think a skirt and the right pair of boots CAN be cute together (ie., Julianne Hough in the new version of Footloose) but if I could pull it off, I'd never do it because like someone else said, I'd sweat to death!

I don't know the look that Aliadam is talking about at all. I only thought of 2 things when I saw this thread:

1/ hiking boots w/ shorts, which is what we wear when we go hiking out west. Thick socks, my hiking boots, and lightweight shorts, hat, hiking poles, etc.

2/ hot pants and go-go boots a la Nancy Sinatra in "these boots are made for walking" - very 60's "mod" look.
