You get your kids to do chores?

We are trying but really in the amount of time it takes me to actually get her up and moving and doing something I could have had it done already.

When she does pick up after herself  its great.

I have tall cabinets and while unloading the dishes is something she helps with she is unable to put everything away

That will be the case for a long time, but you have to get her in the habit or it will only be worse when she gets older.

The things that help me the most aren't chores but things like, "will you go put this upstairs?" kinds of things that save me energy.

I agree with Swish. Just yesterday DD decided to change her sheets and re-make her bed. I was impressed. I mean, she's 10. I didn't have to prompt her to do it. She just did it. And she did a really, really great job.

Now if I could just get her to put her clothes in the laundry on a regular basis. Oh well, she'll soon have to do her own laundry so that won't be my worry any more.

Emptying dishwasher, feeding dog, taking their dirty laundry to basement, sorting socks (with  a family of 7 we have A LOT of socks to sort) and putting recyclables in the bins.

all of them now that i am working they have taken on two more chores each to help mum out! ( and have not asked for more money for helping me out either)

dishes, setting the table, starting supper some nights for me...making salads, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the bathrooms for me( DD did this yesterday for me), picking up after themselves, feeding the cats, sweeping the floor in the kitchen everyday.

Unloading the dishwasher is most helpful for me. I despise it, and my 8 year old loves doing it (for now) so i say "have at it!" lol! biggrin.gif
