Has anyone started making any Christmas gifts yet?

In keeping with our Christmas in July theme this month, what project can you commit to doing that will be a great holiday gift?

so far I made strawberry freezer jam to give out to our grandparents along with a few other canned goods that we'll do this year.

I am starting one today.  I am making J a pinecone wreath to hang on her door.  I just collected the pinecones that I'll need (very scarce in July) and must have looked like a crazy woman because they weren't on my property!

I totally did that last fall in someone else's yard, lol. I felt like an idiot.  We have TONS of pinecones I could send you!

I need to get going on this because of baby!  This isn't a gift, but I have fabric to make M a new Christmas dress (I debated making one for baby, in case it's a girl, but decided against.  Besides, it can wear my first Christmas dress.)  I'm also hoping to make gifts for both of my siblings, so I will email them this week and get some ideas.

I've got some jams up, 2 afghans done and a third in the works, a couple hippie dresses for dd and a shirt for ds. I've got fleece and flannel waiting to be turned into a million pairs of lounge pants, and a game quilt plan drawn up with squares cut, I just need to fix my sewing machine so I can get cranking on those.

I also have a folder on my computer desktop that contains a mile long list of "things I would like to make for someone someday". So it's always dangerous when I get to browsing through there lol

I haven't made anything yet.  I want to make one of those tie fleece blankets for my son this year.  I need to start looking into that because I've never made one before.

They are so easy. Figure out what size you want (use 54" or 60" as one dimension) and get that length fabric x 54" or 60" (standard bolt width). Joanns has tons of different patterns and with the 40% and other coupons that are out weekly you can get fleece really inexpensively. Fleece/polarfleece also doesn't fray so no issues there. Just grab your scissors and cut in about the length of your scissor blades (one full length snip) all the way around (making sure you do the same number of cuts to the other piece - if your scissors are sharp you can cut through both pieces at once without issues). Then either give it that way as a "kit" which the craft stores also sell, or tie it up yourself with regular square knots while you're watching a movie or something.

We've made many of them.  Here is how I do them:  How to make a no-sew fleece blanket
