Do you ALWAYS go see the fireworks? - Page 2

I felt guilty too even though ds said he didn't care.  With all the fires here, and since we had a party, I just wasn't into it.  Turned out plenty of neighbors had them so we just pulled up lawn chairs and watched.  Half for the fireworks and half to alert the fire department if they set anything on fire. rolleyes.gif

I wouldn't fight the crowd and a parking place, to see all the fireworks in the world.

This is how I feel too.  I really don't enjoy watching them that much either.

We've never gone to a public fireworks display.  We used to let off fireworks as a family and have some neighbors over, but we quit a couple of years ago because 1) my dad has COPD and can't be around the smoke and 2) my mom's cat panics with the noise of fireworks and she feels she has to stay home to comfort him.  We tried hanging out on the front porch and watching the neighbor's fireworks, but it was lightning all around us (which scared dd) and the fireworks scared a skunk out of the woods and he ran into our yard sending us running inside. lol  Plus it's very dry around here and I thought it was a bad idea for anyone to set off any fireworks.

We try to because both our girls love to watch them.  We saw a display at a party last Saturday night (DH helped set them off) and also last night on the 4th.

We usually go but last night, DD and I stayed in our tent and read.

We don't always go downtown to see the city display. A country club puts their own show on near me. We went and sat in a school parking lot and watched their display last night. No crowds and we were home in minutes.

I always go. I missed one because we were on vacation a few years ago and I was really sad about it. We live near Lake Michigan so we drive the 3 miles into town and watch them each year. My ex didn't like crowds so he only went with me once. I go alone, with my two girls and we enjoy it very much. We go early and take a picnic and snacks and find a comfy place on the beach. It's awesome and I look forward to it every year. Even with the crowd being in the 30,000+ range. We have always found friends and family there so it turns into a nice visit while we wait. It's more a tradition now I guess. I grew up here and can't remember ever not going when we were growing up.

I enjoy fireworks way more than everyone else does, so we rarely go. We set some off on our own and that's about it.

We try to, but this year we got really lucky- we were out on the front lawn and watching fireworks from 5 different places! The 2 at the end of our street (we think a neighborhood over) must have spent hundreds, if not thousands in fireworks- they were worth of their own show! So this year we watched from our lawn smile.gif

I'm not a fan of crowds so I try to watch from afar.
