Has the price of milk suddenly jumped?

We don't buy milk often and I don't buy a big size when I do. However, hubby likes to have some in the house. I got a small 1 quart bottle of milk and it was $1.98! That seems really expensive to me.

Aldi has had a gallon for $1.69, I'm sure just to pull the customers in.  Our other stores average around $2.99, but will put in on sale often.

It is pretty consistent between $3 and about $3.75 her depending on where you shop. (that is per gallon, I have neve bought a quart)

I stock up when I see it around $2.19 a gallon.  That is a really good price here.  I have a big freezer and usually have 6-8 gallons in there.  They last me until it goes on sale again.  I think the regular Walmart price is $2.69 or so.

Our Kroger has half gallons on sale this wk for $1..25 and that also includes chocolate milk. I'm not sure why, but every time people discuss milk prices I'm always surprised what they have to pay. I've NEVER paid over $3 for a gallon of milk. It's usually more like $2.50 a gallon or sometimes even less. IN must have lower prices (or maybe the midwest) than most people.

I want your prices!

They were pretty consistent, but I do think they are on the rise again

ALDI here is $3.29 a gallon (BJ's is the lowest at $2.47) I did see Harris Teeter had milk on sale a half gallon for $1.77 as a special buy this weekend.

it is generally around $3 here. My local grocery has a coupon every week for $1.99 a gal if you spend $15. Generally I do. I get 2 half gallons a month from WIC. I have noticed that the half gallons are right around $2 which is crazy to me! I buy the kids tru moo chocolate or strawberry when it gets marked down to 99 cents because it expires in 2 days.

WOW!! eek.gif That's TWICE what I pay. I can't imagine that. Where do you live? Also, why do they limit it? Never heard of that before.

Dairy products are very expensive in Canada. I know many, many families that come down here to shop.

$3.00 roughly at the grocery store. $2.50 at Costco.
