Have you ever been a victim of theft? - Page 3

We've had stuff stolen from us several times. Just yesterday I went to the hospital to visit my dad.  When I left the parking garage the cash that I keep for tolls etc was missing.  It was only a few dollars but it still made me angry.  I was visiting my dad who is really sick and somebody was stealing from me!

One time I booked a vacation time share through a person who said he owned it.  We arrived at the time share to find no reservation for us and our money was gone.  I was eventually contacted by the police in his home town.  They were investigating several reports of him doing this to other people.  We never heard anything more though.  The same thing happened with a travel agent one time.  We booked a cruise through an on-line travel agent.  A few months before we were supposed to leave the cruise line called us and told us that the travel agent had scammed a ton of people and then skipped the country.  Luckily we had booked the trip with our credit card so we got a full refund.  However I did learn that travel insurance does not cover travel agent fraud.  Since these two things happened (both within a relatively short time period) I only book our vacations through well know travel websites or large, well established travel agencies.
