Anyone get a raise July 1st?

Did anyone get a raise July 1st?

Does anyone budget off their old salary and just safe the amount of money from the raise?

We got a cost of living raise. I think it's 3%.

Well yes and no. My DH (& everyone else at the school system he works for) had to take pay CUTS 3 yrs ago. So this July 1st they put them back up to what they were making before. So, yes we're getting more money than we've gotten for the last 3 years, but it's only what it was 3 years ago, so theoretically it's like not getting a raise for 3 years. Yet at this point we're happy for anything.

Regardless of how we look at it, no we won't be saving any of it. We'll have one child in college which we're paying quite a bit of, and another in grad school who we're not paying, but I'll probably help her out with expenses such as food, clothing, etc, outside of tuition and housing. It's the ever sucking black hole of college expenses at our house.

My husband's raises come in the fall.

I don't get any raises with my job.  And my husband's raise comes in Oct usually with his yearly review.

We don't usually budget in the raise, its never really enough to think about.

Dh's year is calendar, mine is school year.

I wish!  Dh did find out he has a job through the end of the year--so I guess that in itself feels like a raise.

We had to ask. It had been years so its a 10% raise but YES we just got one.

There are things I have in my budget that I have not been able to cover. I think our number one addition to the budget is Life Insurance. Not a whole lot but a small term policy for us would give us more security in the event of what if.

Other than that my budget is staying the same. More money means more progress on consumer debt. We have at current $4500 in CC debt and $6000 left to pay off a car. We also owe my parent $600 and I hate owing them. So no budget changes and extra savings yet. Plan is to be $1000 down every 12 weeks.

Oh gosh, I don't know of a single place here that has done cost of living raises in at least the last 5 years. I've gotten review raises at my current job, but even those were held or salaries decreased at my prior employer.

Hubby got a raise with his annual review which happens to be in June because he started in June of last year. He also will be getting a profit sharing bonus in August - that money is going toward tires and brakes on my van. My husband's net pay fluctuates so significantly due to over-time, a 1%-3% raise is hardly noticeable. We budget for the minimum check then put money toward extra-ordinary expenses (like furniture or tools that we couldn't bring with us in the move). Right now we're itching for a lawn-mower and a hitch on my van.

DH is a federal government employee so no, no real raises here for at least a few years. Thank you Congress! But, August is his annual review and he will get what they call a step increase. He goes up a level and it has more pay so we will get that. He MIGHT get a cost of living raise in January but you just never know with the government and it never actually covers the increase in cost of living around here.
