Would/Do you dress your children in "political" clothing?

Thread Starter

I do a lot of shopping for my little ones via FB auctions.  I was really surprised when I saw that one site's dresses and little boys' shorts onesies, smocked with political symbols (elephants and donkeys), were going like CRAZY.  I am almost positive that they sold out.  Within minutes, there were tons of "solds".

Would you/do you/have you dress(ed) your child(ren) in political clothing?

I never did, but I might have depending on what it was and where we were going. Some places I definitely wouldn't have put them on my kids, especially if I had know there would have been lots of people from the other "side". I wouldn't have wanted my kids getting harassed or seeing me harassed for some decision I made or belief I had. So I think it might have been a fun novelty type piece of clothing, but I certainly wouldn't have put them in it often.

I probably would buy an elephant or donkey outfit, but if I really supported a candidate and was campaigning, I would dress them in a candidate t-shirt, for example.

No, I wouldn't.

I only did twice. Once was when my mother was running for an office. Second was for Halloween one year. I had a warm fleece elephant costume. We put my moms old republican pins (talking ones that date back over 20/30 yrs) and a big red white and blue ribbon around her neck. Only one house "got it".

No.

I'm not very political to begin with, so no, I wouldn't.

DH bought DS a shirt that says "if you revoke my right to bear arms then how will I kill the zombies?" It's cute, and DS being both a fan of shooting guns and the Walking Dead wears it aallll the time.

Very cute.

I'm with Rae, I'm not sure many people get the connection between a donkey or an elephant and a political agenda. They probably just thought it was cute.

Other than generic patriotic stuff, we haven't steered DD one way or another politically. We leave that door open for her to decide (although we encourage volunteerism when it comes to political campaigns.)
