cover up the Jerry Sandusky scandal.  Do you agree or disagree with this report?

I don't know, I wasn't there, but I DO believe that Joe Paterno should have done more.  He knew this was an issue, they all did, yet let this guy continue to work, for the sake of a winning team and not marring the school's good name.

If it had been me, and I knew I reported this guy, I'd have to wonder and question otherw WHY he was still on the job??  He didn't, and continued to work with this guy, even after he believed he was a pedifile.    I'm just appalled.

I am also appalled at the number of individuals at this college that knew there was a problem and did nothing or just covered it up.

I heard Paterno's statue is supposed to come down.

Its really really sad what has become of his repuation simply because he did not stand up for this, or do more about it.   I'm still in awe that most of the people involved in this felt they did everything they were 'supposed' to do and didn't persue any more.

I could be wrong but I thought Sandusky wasn't coaching at Penn State in any capacity when this occurred. I thought he just had office space there for his outside younger boy coaching thing. That they allowed him to use the space for that. I don't think it had anything to do with continuing to let him coach Penn State. If anything it was probably more that Sandusky and Paterno might have been friends.

It bothers me that so many people have defended him because he did the bare minimum and apparently that should have been good enough. I guess the fact that he was a great football coach was more important.rolleyes.gif

Its obvious I don't have all my facts straight LOL but my sentiment is the same.  Whatever his capcity was, it seems that no one did more, or  whatever simply becasue of the fact that Penn State, and the football team were named, in whatever capacity.

Well see, that's the ironic part of this. If they HAD done something right away, I don't think it would have reflected badly on them. Since he wasn't a Penn State employee, it would have had no reason to have reflected badly on them. The fact that the Penn State employees though did nothing, is what has hurt them. If they had kicked him out right away and informed the police, it wouldn't have hurt the school's reputation, but now it has.

I have NO IDEA why they didn't do more. Makes no sense to me. And the guy that walked in and knew he was anally raping a kid and just walked out should be shot. I can't imagine walking away from a child who you knew was being abused. I know he reported it the next day or whatever, but he should have gone over and beaten the crap out of the old f*cker and called the police right away.

I agree!!! I cannot fathom what kind of a human being would not help a child.

According to the report, Sandusky was a Penn State employee when many of the offenses occurred, but maybe he wasn't when some of the allegations were made.  To answer your question Ruthie, I do believe the report.  If anyone doubts the report, they just need to read it, specifically the section called Independence of the Investigation. The report was written by the third party company hired by Penn State Board of Trustees, so I doubt that it exaggerates any facts.

This is such a perfect example of people not wanting to get involved.
