How much notice would you want from Secret Service that your street was going to be blocked?

How much notice would you want from Secret Service that your street was going to be blocked off for an indefinite amount of time?

 

 

I understand the need to keep the President safe. I also understand it would not be fun to have plans and realize that the President during a campaign stop was having lunch in a neighbor's home, and your street was blocked off.

I'd want alternatives, like if I show proof that I live there, they'd let me through.

 

My understanding is that the frustrating part is that they prepare several sites for a visit to (1) keep the President's schedule unpredictable and thus harder to harm him and (2) give him options as to what he is going to do that day (i.e.: one venue doesn't work out so their are alternatives.) So there are hundreds, even thousands, of people inconvenienced and they don't even get the "thrill" of having the President even show up.

a week, but I thought you meant "indefinite" like "days or weeks"

Oh no it was a matter of hours, but they couldn't give her a time she would be able to leave her house so no one knew his exact departure time. If they had known it was even an option that they would block the street off they would have parked their car a few blocks away so they could at least get to appointments they had made.

It doesn't really matter how much notice I want, you've got zero rights outside of their job description. Personally I wouldn't mind if they eased up on his security rolleyes.gif
