Which appointment do you dread the most?

Dental for sure.  The gyno is no big deal to me after having two babies.

Pap smear

You would think this would be the case. I'd rather have the baby!  Seriously, I mentioned it to the obgyn the last time and she said, "it's whatever's in front of us."  I almost hate having the IV put in more than having the baby, too!

 

I don't mind the dentist at all, but I've been pregnant three times in a row so I haven't had x-rays, and I have good teeth, so I haven't had to have a filling or a shot in a long time.

I find the gyno appt super awkward. I mean, it is what it is, but it's just weird having a casual conversation while some stranger sits between your spread open legs and pokes around. Pregnant or having a baby is fine, it's your child's welfare so it's very important, but just to check to see if my lady parts are hunky dory? Weird. They should buy me dinner.

I'm a bit dental-phobic, so I don't like that unless I know it's just a cleaning.

 

Gyno doesn't bother me - I really like my doctor - I've been going to the same one for 30 years now. He's actually my favorite doctor.

 

The one I dread (and tend to skip): my annual retinal exam. The eye drops are like grit in my eyes, then the bright shining light right into your eye so you are blinded, then the dark glasses & horrible headache for hours afterwards.

I don't really mind the dentist if it's for a routine exam. I love having my teeth cleaned. The gyno for me is always difficult because every time I go now I get an endometrial biopsy. Those things HURT like hades. So I really dread going to her.

When I was working I once tried to schedule the OB/GYN and the dentist on the same day. I figured if I was already going to take time off work ...

 

Yeah, don't do that.

 

Since the hyst, I don't do a PAP smear every year. I don't even have a regular OB/GYN anymore. (I go, just not yearly.) I no longer dread the dentist. I used to be terrified of the dentist but I'm over that. I dislike the dentist merely because my jaw and neck hurts after a cleaning appointment.

 

Can I list "a visit to the auto mechanic" as my over-all worst appointment. The final bill - and result - is always a cr@p-shoot. At least with the doctor/dentist you know whether or not it'll be covered by insurance, you have a reasonable assumption of what the cost will be and they don't hold hostage you means to get home if you can't pay.

I would rather have my yearly exam than go to the dentist, although it is getting easier to go to the dentist, I still dread it but it is easier.
