MacBook Pro as an birthday

Thread Starter

Next week is my son's 13 year old birthday. I am going to buy him a MacBook Pro(he is wanting it for a long time ). However, I am Afraid he may frequently visit those unwanted websites, like drug, porn, violence etc. Ho w can I  restrict him from accessing those unwanted websites?

I am not very computer savy, but I am sure there will be a phone number in the manual with the computer that you can call and ask for help to do this.  When I googled parental controls on the mac, a ton of how to's came up.  So I'm pretty sure this is something that is easy to do.  I know with my simple laptop, I can do it from the control menu.

A $1000 to $2000 laptop for a 13-yr old who MIGHT visit drug and porn sites isn't a very frugal gift.

There are all sorts of parental controls you can put on a computer or even your wireless router, however, nothing can substitute for a good parent-child relationship.
