Am I the only one hating bills this month?

it has just been a tough couple of months and a lot of unexpected bills have popped up. My savings is down, my car has been totaled, we've eaten out way too much and I just am tired of dealing with money issues.

Am I the only one?

You are not alone.

This summer has not been kind to me and my savings.

While the  girls are gone on vacation with their dad I'm going to work extra shifts and rebuild savings.

We've been building the garage, and all the major expenses for that have been paid for this month. Giving money hand over fist like that sucks despite the fact that we've come in fairly close to budget so far. What hasn't been budgeted for is that we've been so darn exhausted and stretched thin from all our normal activities on top of building that monstrosity is that we have way gone over our food and entertainment budgets by grabbing meals to go and ordering movies. Totally our own damned fault, and mine for not being the bad guy and saying no. Yaaaaayy....rolleyes.gif

I about choked when I opened up my Costco charge yesterday - over $3500. I thought "what the heck did we buy at Costco?"  Then, I looked at the bill....$500 to the vet, $1600 for a car repair for DH's car, $500 for new tires for my car, $500 for airfare/trip insurance for our trip to Maryland in Sept...

So over $3000 of it was "unusual expenses" and only $400 was groceries, gasoline, restaurants, trips to Lowe's, etc...

You are not alone at all.  July historically is always bad for us.  I don't know why?? Well I do know why this year, but I don't know why every year. LOL  I need to also pay some bills but I'm afraid of letting our acct go down too far.

Yes, we'll have to fork over around $6000 any day now for DS's first semester college expenses. That's our share after his scholarship even. Haven't decided how much we'll help DD, but I'm sure I'll at least keep her in food and clothes. Other than that no unusual expenses for us. The first summer in many years that we haven't taken a vacation even.

$6000, ouch.

This is where I am. I am supposed to take DD to dinosaur camp for two weeks and since the car was totaled ... I really only want to do one week. It is just all so expensive.

July always sucks for us. Our anniversary, Fourth of July, DD birthday, my birthday and the county fair. Add to it this year an open house  I had to help with, a nephew living with us and now a trip out of town for a funeral? Ouch. Told my dad this mornign he is gonna have to foot the bill for the funeral for me. I did budget for most, just not the nephew or the funeral.

This was a hard month for me too with the wedding.  We had already given J money for it, but then we had the expense of 6 hotel rooms this weekend and eating out the entire weekend.  Plus, I had N's college orientation out of town which put us back too.  Next month will be the worse--tuition for 2 and Dh and I need to discuss whether we will help J pay for her student teaching.  Ugghh!

We are paying off moving stuff.  Hubby's company is supposed to give us money for the move, but we won't know how much it is until after they pay for the actual movers.  And, get this, the driver STILL hasn't submitted the paperwork! Boo.  So we are waiting on that, but in the meantime need to pay for our new appliances and tons of extra gas and groceries and household things this month.
